Common questions

What exactly is a VIN and where do I find it?

The Vehicle Identification Number is a unique 17-character code stamped on every road vehicle built since 1981. Look at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side, on the sticker inside the driver's door jamb, on the vehicle's registration or title, or on the insurance card. A VIN never contains the letters I, O or Q — if you think you see one, it is a 1 or a 0.

Which vehicles and countries do you cover?

We cover cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles and RVs registered in the United States and Canada — all 50 states and the Canadian provinces and territories. Vehicles that spent part of their life in one country and were then moved to the other are exactly the cases a cross-border check is built for.

How fast will I get my report?

Orders are processed around the clock. Most reports are compiled and emailed shortly after checkout; Silver orders are placed on priority and Gold orders go to the front of the queue. If anything about your VIN needs a manual look, we will email you rather than leave you waiting.

Which package should I choose?

Basic ($45) answers the make-or-break questions: is the title clean, has the odometer been touched, has it been written off. Silver ($90) adds the detail behind the flags — how bad each accident was, who owned it, where it has been sold. Gold ($120) adds a lien check, a market value estimate and a written review of what the findings mean for your negotiation. As a rule of thumb: the more you are about to spend on the vehicle, the more a deeper report is worth.

What if there are no records for my VIN?

If our sources return no usable record for the VIN you submitted, we refund your order in full. A report that comes back clean is a different thing — a clean history is a real and useful result, not a failed search.

Is a history report a substitute for an inspection?

No, and we will never claim otherwise. A history report tells you what has been reported about a vehicle. Damage that was repaired privately and never claimed will not appear in any provider's records. Use the report to decide whether the car is worth your time, then have a qualified mechanic inspect it before you pay.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

Neither. You enter your details on the order form, pay once, and the report comes to your email. There is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews.

Is my information kept private?

Yes. We use your name and email only to prepare and deliver your report and to support you afterwards. We do not sell your details, and we never notify a seller or dealer that their vehicle has been checked. Payment is handled by our secure checkout provider — full card numbers never reach us.

Can I check more than one vehicle?

Yes — order one report per VIN, or contact us for dealer and bulk pricing if you check vehicles regularly.
